Theory of Vector Meson Production
I discuss the theoretical status of the 'soft' pomeron and its place in describing generic diffractive processes. The role of perturbative QCD (pQCD) corrections is considered, in particular in the context of quasi-elastic vector meson production at high Q 2. In those processes where short distances are dominant, the 'hard' (pQCD) pomeron is expected to reveal itself, such a process may well be...
متن کاملNote on the Theory of the Neutral Particle
Majorana has recently shown by using a special set of Dirac matrices that the symmetry properties of the Dirac equations make possible the elimination of the negative energy states in the case of a free particle. Ke present here a further investigation of this possibility, in a treatment based on an arbitrary Hermitian representation of the Dirac matrices instead of Majorana's special represent...
متن کاملOn the Stability of the Neutral Meson
' 'N the accompanying letter by Germer and Haworth, ~ evidence is presented to show that a positive ion in a high field (~107 volts/cm) must be able to eject several electrons from a metal. On the other hand, present theories of ejection by positive ions in low fields require that the ion be neutralized as the first step in the ejection process and, hence, that an ion be unable to eject more th...
متن کاملVector Meson Masses in Chiral Perturbation Theory
We discuss the vector meson masses within the context of Chiral Perturbation Theory performing an expansion in terms of the momenta, quark masses and 1/Nc. We extend the previous analysis to include isospin breaking effects and also include up to order p. We discuss vector meson chiral perturbation theory in some detail and present a derivation from a relativistic lagrangian. The unknown coeffi...
متن کاملVector Meson Photoproduction from the BFKL Equation. I: Theory
Diffractive vector meson photoproduction accompanied by proton dissociation is studied for large momentum transfer. The process is described by the non-forward BFKL equation, for which a complete analytical solution is found. The scattering amplitudes for all combinations of helicity are presented.
